Are You Missing Perks Your Company Offers?
June 18th, 2009 | Category: Personal Finance | 6 Comments »If you work for a corporation such as a chain of grocery stores, a government agency, or any large business, you may be due some significant discounts. Many of the larger companies have agreements with phone companies, shoe stores, flower shops, and more. The possibilities are vast. For example, my son receives a percentage off his cell phone bill because he works for a grocery chain that has an agreement with his cell phone company. This is money in his pocket every single month.
It’s strange that few companies talk about these savings opportunities. You may see them in a sidebar of the monthly newsletter (If you ever see the newsletter) or in the packet of material you received when you got the job. (Now, whatever happened to that fat manila envelope?) If you’re like me, you don’t pay attention to banners announcing percents off in large letters. There’s got to be a catch, right?
Not always.
To discover the perks you may be missing, try visiting your company’s employee web page. If your employer offers these gems, you’ll find a link to these Employee Discounts somewhere within the site.
Ask your manager or supervisor about these “hidden” perks. He or she may have a web address or contact information for more information.
Do an online search for “your company’s name” + employee discounts and see what comes up.
Contact your union representative and ask for information. There may be a brochure in the union office meant just for this purpose. Ask to have it mailed to you.
Sure, it may take you a few minutes to chase these discounts, but 30 minutes now could save you hundreds over the course of a year. For example, one company offers a 30% discount on brand name shoes and 10% off from an online florist. Perfumes and other items are on the list as well. Catch those pennies before they fly away.
And now I’d like to invite you to check out Penny Pinching Meals, a cookbook that will save you time and shrink your food budget with your family happy and satisfied. See the free video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXdaHLb0RAo
