I am from a fraud dectection agentcy there are many ways they can get your information, as you were saying about the resteraunts, they have card readers that they swipe your card through and you wouldnt be the wiser. Also online transaction could do it aswell. I review transactions with people and youd be surpirzed how many peopple get fraud. someone plobably got your number made a fake card and started charging. theres a devise that lets you clear out a cards number and put in your #.

I have a Visa debit card, so I had to make a police report so I can try to get my money back. I am mad as hell and in a fog. I had no idea someone could steal our numbers and make a counterfeit card. I will be making the majority of my transactions with cash now.

There is a big article on Wall Street Journal today that Heartland Payment Center had a major breach. They deal with over 200,000 merchants. Millions of numbers have been stolen. I don’t know if that is how my info was stolen, but I totally understand how you feel. I still don’t get it.
