Refinancing, Have I Missed My Chance?
Many people have asked if they have missed their chance at refinancing. They have indicated that they should have jumped a long time ago to get the best possible rates and now they feel that they won’t be able to get the best rates available.
If you feel this way you might be surprised to find out that you can still qualify for some of the best interest rates out there and you may not have qualified earlier. You can start by looking at your credit report. If you pull your credit report and find that you have some negative information being reported then you want to get that fixed first. No lender is going to want to give you the best rate unless you have an almost perfect credit score. But the key to getting the best rate possible is to have the best credit score possible.
If the negative reporting item is inaccurate than dispute it until it is reporting accurately. This is true of anything on your credit report that is inaccurate. You should dispute it since having an accurate credit report is best for you. It can help you keep things accurate and if you are monitoring your credit report, it will help you against Identity Theft.
If you have a negative reporting item that is accurate but misleading, then contact your creditor and discuss what is being reported. You might even be able to get your creditor to re-age your account. This means that if you follow their instructions you could clean up and negative information in a short period of time. But it means that you must do everything that they tell you to do and no late payments will be allowed.
Once you have your credit report as good as it is going to get, you can contact a Mortgage Broker. Discuss with that individual about your goals and let them get to work. You can discuss what is important to you. You may want to lower your monthly payment, lower your interest rate or reduce the length of your loan. Each one of those will help you and you might be able to combine a couple of them to reach your perfect loan.
Starting with an Accurate Credit Report is important if you want to refinance your home. So pull your credit report and get started today.
