You need to keep the balances low on your credit cards and you need to make sure that you do not apply for too many credit cards in short span of time. This way you avoid inquiries and inquiries go down as a big negative in your credit report. You also need to safeguard your self against identity thefts.
If you encounter a credit activity not performed by you then you should report to the credit bureaus at once. Freeze all your accounts and close all credit deals.
