COP Hearing: Learning from the Past—Lessons from the Banking Crises of the 20th Century
COP held a public hearing on the lessons to be learned from government responses to the major banking crises of the 20th century on Thursday March 19th, 2009 in Washington, DC The hearing provided an opportunity for the Panel members to hear from experts on the prominent banking crises of the last 100 years. The Panel heard testimony from experts on the banking crises in Japan and Sweden during the early 1990s, the Savings and Loan collapse in the 1980s, and the Great Depression of the 1930s….
