This is great advice and all but whate people dont realize is that you credit card company is only going to offer you a rate according to what you credit score is. I work an a credit analyst and I know for a fact that is you are late on 2 or more payments in 1 year you automaticcally get the default rate which usually is 33%.
to qualify for a lower rate you have to make large payments for 6 months before you can get a lower rate which is never guaranteed. you were offered a 3.99% for 3 months they only did that to get you off the phone and then you got a 27.99% variable afterwards which is 13% over the prime rate. This means that your score isnt high enough to qualify. I would only encourage people with credit scores over 715 to call an ask for lower rates. If you were ever late twice or more, don’t bother.
